Danny's Movie/TV Show Highlight's of 2024

It's funny how time has flown this year. But through it all there have been some pretty impressive films and TV shows. So which ones were a highlight for yours truly? Well, let's take a look.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Season 3

Though it was the final season, the show did a great job of finally tying up the loose ends that had been hanging for the past two seasons. While we still don't know how Rex's Clone coalition fails, we at least get to see a finite ending for Clone Force 99, and one that ends on a note where the group can retire in peace and with lighter hearts.

X-Men '97

To say this show helped reinvigorate interest not just in Marvel Studios but in its animation department was an understatement. The creators of this show took all the best parts of the original show and amplified it to a level that even I didn't expect. You have your heartfelt moments as well as the high-octane action, and some cameos that are amazing and astonishing yet those don't take away from what the story is trying to tell. And a conclusion that leaves you thirsty for more.

One Piece (Netflix)

As someone who was late - very late - jumping onto the One Piece bandwagon, I didn't really know what to expect, until I started watching this show. After that I became a full-fledged fan of One Piece and along with starting to watch the original anime I am looking forward to the next season!

Deadpool & Wolverine

Well, what can be said about this masterpiece that hasn't been already said? I mean, it may have taken many years to get to this point, but after watching this movie it was worth waiting for.

Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 1 and 2

After 5 Seasons, everything finally begins to culminate in Season 6, with Parts 1 and 2 upping the drama as much as the action. Daniel LaRusso learns his late sensei may not have been as perfect as the former thought, and new opponents enter the fray as well as older ones thought dealt with. Having seen both parts I really like how everything is just building to a conclusion that I hope the creators will deliver, and with a new Karate Kid movie on the way, the Miyagi-verse is still alive and well.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

Can a Goonies-type story be done in the Star Wars galaxy? Well, looks like this show is going to answer that question, and having seen the recent episodes I say it's doing that pretty well. When a kid dreams of adventure beyond his home planet a series of events lead him and a few other kids to a ship that then leads them to something beyond their wildest imagination. Here's hoping the show can stick the landing, because it's had a great start.

Sonic The Hedgehog 3

Well, this has definitely been one way to cap off the year, with a third entry to the Sonic movies that have proven to be better with each entry. In hindsight there is no way it should have worked, but credit to the filmmakers for keeping the quality up. And having seen it in theaters this film ups the ante while still keeping the humor and theme of family/friends intact.

In all, with shows/movies like these it could not have been done better in terms of pop culture on the big and small screens. True, not everything that came out on TV and Theaters this year was perfect, but for the ones that were, there was plenty to enjoy.

So what could be coming next in 2025? Well, given that there have been a few trailers of movies in the works it seems the next year could be gearing up to be a good one.

As long as the studios stay true to telling good stories with great characters, the audiences will be there.

Until 2025, Happy New Year's Eve everyone!
